Sunil Dutt Felicitation 99

30th Aug 1999

Film Thespian Dilip Kumar had lamented that parochial forces and fissiparous tendencies had torn apart the basic fiber of the country leading to erosion of precious values such as humanity and nationalism.

He was addressing a gathering at a function organized by Sahyog Foundation here last night to felicitate Sunil Dutt, former M. P. and Social activist, for his significant contribution to National Integration.

Presiding over the function, the actor said he was aghast to find India in such a situation and regretted that those responsible for this mess were sitting on lofty pedestal as the architects of the nation.

Replying to his felicitation, Dutt said that no religion preached hatred. He castigated fundamentalists who were inciting people in the name of religion.

Dutt said he disagreed with those who expressed time and again the Religion was in danger. “Religion is a philosophy and can never be destroyed. I strongly believe that humanity is not dead.”
